James Raleigh “Biz” Mackey was a star catcher in Negro Leagues baseball from the 1920s through the 1940s and later a respected manager and instructor. He was widely regarded for his defensive excellence, ability to throw out baserunners, and for mentoring younger catchers (including Roy Campanella). Mackey is often considered one of the greatest catchers in Black baseball history. His death on September 22, 1965 marks the passing of a key figure in the lineage of catching excellence and leadership in Negro Leagues and post‐integration baseball. Facebook


José Fernández — Died September 25, 2016 Wikipedia

José Delfín Fernández was a rising star in Major League Baseball, known for his electric stuff and charismatic presence. He pitched for the Miami Marlins from 2013–2016, earning All‑Star honors, and was on the cusp of becoming one of the game’s elite. Tragically, Fernández died in a boating accident on September 25, 2016. His death shocked the baseball world; many saw him as a future ace and face of the sport.
